Sojitz has been selected as the winner of the “Most Liked!” IR Award as part of the 2020 IR Award organized by the Japan Investor Relations Association (JIRA), a non-profit organization which works for the proliferation and improvement of IR activities in Japan.
The “Most Liked!” IR Award was newly created for 2020, with this year’s theme being IR activities during and after the COVID-19 era. Voting was held among companies that applied for consideration for the 2020 IR Award, and 17 winners were selected from the 211 entries based on overall votes, as well as votes received within their respective industries.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Sojitz held its shareholders’ meeting with social distancing and other strict infection prevention measures in place in order to maximize opportunities for dialogue amidst limited in-person events. In addition, Sojitz posted explanations online from both the president and CFO when the company announced its financial results and at the shareholders’ meeting, and it sent video messages clarifying the company’s plans for successfully navigating the COVID-19 pandemic to shareholders and employees. Sojitz has also actively engaged in other IR activities, such as conducting online IR meetings for employees. Sojitz’s stance of engaging in dialogue with the market and its IR activities involving its employees led to Sojitz being selected as a “Most Liked!” company.
We will hold ongoing dialogues with our stakeholders as we continue to take on new challenges in pursuit of creating value.
